With the release of the new DLC Blasphemous: Wounds of Eventide , two new bosses and the canon ending to the game are available to the Penitent One, but only if they follow a specific path through the game. There were previously two possible endings for the silent hero of Blasphemous.Either the good ending, where the Penitent One climbs a mountain of ash and becomes a martyr, or the bad ending, where he fails and is buried in the ash.

Previously, the good ending was considered to be the true ending of Blasphemous, but with the release of "Wounds of Eventide,"that has changed. TheEventide ending is now the canon ending to the game and sets up the upcoming Blasphemous sequel revealed in Eventide's animated trailer. Unfortunately, much like the alternate endings of the Dark Souls series, there is very limited information in-game to tell the player how to achieve a specific ending. If any part of the path is missed, players won't get the ending they desire.

The DLC cannot be accessed if players do not begin it before fighting Esdras on the bridge. He is a critical part of the quest, and if he dies, the canon ending and new bosses will be unavailable. Before approaching the bridge, the Penitent One must first find a new area, the Resting Place of the Sister. The Dark Souls 3 special ending also requires the player to visit a sister's grave. From the Echoes of Salt fast travel portal, players need to continue right until there is a ladder upwards, go up the ladder, and continue until the area name appears onscreen. Perpetva, Esdras' sister and a miniboss earlier in the game, is buried here, and her spirit will grant the Penitent One the Incomplete Scapular. With this token in hand, players can safely proceed to meet Esdras without fear of missing out on the DLC.

Blasphemous: Wounds of Evantide: How to Access the New DLC

Once players encounter Esdras and his sister's spirit intervenes, he'll ask them to meet him at the top left of the Brotherhood of Silent Sorrow. The additional travel required will be much more convenient if the player has unlocked Prie Dieu teleportation in Blasphemous: Wounds of Eventide. He'll give players the Key Grown From Twisted Wood, and with it, in hand, the next step is to go to the Library of Negated Words and find Diosdado.

After relieving him from the incessant sound of a ghost, he will use the key to open a previously invisible door at the spot he is initially encountered, which leads to a secret lower area of the Knot of Three Words. Here, a golden face asks the player to retrieve its two stolen eyes held by the new bosses, Sierpes and Isidora, Voice of the Dead. Players must do this before fighting Crisanta of the Wrapped Agony, and for these difficult fights, it's worth taking some time to upgrade bile flasks and the rosary. Upon returning both eyes, the golden face will give the Penitent One the Apodictic Heart of Mea Culpa and inform them that this is the blade's, true heart. Once equipped, this heart cannot be unequipped.

With the true heart of Mea Culpa equipped, the Penitent one is all set to fight Crisanta. Once she is defeated, the player will meet her at the same church they previously met Esdras at, and she will give them the Holy Wound of Abnegation. Then, after destroying all confessor statues with the Weight of True Guilt to obtain the Cvstodia of Sin, the same as if going for the good ending, the Penitent one will be ready to fight Father Escribar and reach the canon conclusion ofBlasphemous.
